The vandals who did a very bad repair to my car lost the spring that counterbalances the hood, and the pivot itself is likely from something else: there is no provision on it for attaching a spring. The spring is said to be no longer available, so might any reader here happen to have one laying about, to be measured for length and then pulled one or two inches with a spring scale? With the spring constant I can easily find a substitute or have the correct one made.
