removing oil filter from cold engine 200

I needed to change my oil because it was contaminated with gas.

It was thin and I thought that it would run out without warming up the engine.

Now I have just bent my 25 year old inexpensive oil filter wrench trying to take the oil filter off.

Am I just screwed and need to fill the engine with oil and warm it up or can I take the filter off with the engine cold without hurting anything?
