89 240 Timing Belt Re-Tension 200

Installed a new timing belt and tensioner about 700 miles back. Time to re-tension the new tensioner.
But, I have read a FAQ here that says turn engine 1/8 turn to be sure there is tension on the belt and I have read a How-To that says turn the engine 360 degrees and I have read on another board - just loosen tensioner to re-tension and torque the bolt - no turning the engine.
Sort of confusing.
I thought just loosening the tensioner and tightening would be enough.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
