Overdrive solenoid 200 1992

My overdrive solenoid is dripping oil from the top of it under the rubber boot i replaced the two o rings so its not coming from there. Should i just buy the by pass plate and be done with it. If i put the plate on what do i do with the wire do i pull the relay out so no power to the wire. Who has done this modification.
