16" wheel tire recommendations

Hey everybody. I'm in the market for new tires for my 90 740T. It has 16" Hydra wheels, and has 205/55/16R pirelli cinturatos on it. They come with an "85000" mile warranty, but I've never seen them make it to 60,000 miles, and the store that had been selling them to me is now about 250 miles away.

I got the tires for my 240 from Sears, and the same model I put on the 240 have good reviews in the 205 size.

1) Are there any other sizes besides 205/55/16 that will fit? I'd be looking for something more common in hopes of finding something cheaper, though this size seems common enough.

2) Does anyone have any recommendations, or more importantly any "Must not buy again" stories? I'm looking for specific models and specifically this size, not something like "______ tires all suck".
A lot of the miles I drive annually are put on all at once, on a trip down to see family. I usually run up about 350 miles in one long trip, so I'm looking for something with a good temperature rating. I think there's a significant correlation between temp rating and durability.

Cheers!
