Hi there,
So happy to say that I just took deliver of my first car - a 1975 Volvo 164 with about 50,000 miles on it. Car was owned by a couple who bought it in their 70s and sold it to a dealer in their 90s. The dealer redid the paint, radiator core, gas tank, interior upholstery, wires and spark plugs, transmission cables..etc. Basically everything to make it really nice and they used it for like parades and shows and stuff for the last 10 years.
Anyway, the car does have some character issues that I'm wondering about...
1. After driving for a bit, the red dash warning lights (amp, brake failure, parking brake, and the bulb integrity warning) sometimes light up (sometimes only half bright, sometimes full illumination) when I come to a stop. Its only the red lights and they seem to go out shortly after accelerating again. I've never heard of this before so was wondering if this is common on these cars or something to worry about.
2. The gas gauge seems to wander by about a quarter of a tank depending on the moment you look at it. Not a big deal really, I always fill at half a tank anyway. Just wondering if there's and easy fix.
3. The rear belt is stuck and won't release. I think I can fix it but any tips?
Finally, any other tips of ownership would be really appreciated. The car has not been driven many miles over the past couple of years so if you would change or do anything to it please let me know.
Btw...here is the car on the dealer site - http://www.stillmanvolvo.com/classic-car-gallery-7.htm
