alternator belt keeps breaking...only when i drive in snow? 900 1991

hey everyone,
i'm wondering why my alternator belt breaks every single time i drive and it is snowing. i have replaced it each and every time there is a snow storm, it breaks after about five or ten minutes of driving. no problems with the other belts, and no problems when i'm driving in the rain or cold or dry hot days. only snow storms. any ideas? i'm ready to get rid of this car...
