One thing about my 1989 740GL sedan I've always disliked since I bought it 5 months ago was how loud it seems to vibrate things inside the car like pieces on the dash etc when I'm driving it. For example its the loudest when starting out and going through the first two gears when the rpm's are up a bit...when it shifts to third it settles down a bit. Once in OD over 45 or so mph its not too bad. If I have some loose change in the console where the heated seat switches are that change rattles pretty good...drives me nuts. My 240 is soo much smoother for being the same engine...
On the highway its not too bad but its definately present....just seems so loud and I can feel the engine running in a stiff feeling way...
I was told to look at the harmonic balancer but was wondering if there is a good test for it? Does this sound like a HB issue?
Thx...hope this post makes some sence...
