1980 242 Toasty headlight switch 200

Every so often it seems, the headlight switch on my 1980 242 seems to burn out. What seems to happen is some sort of overload and high heat at the current input terminal on the switch (red wire). This happens only intermittently, and at random intervals. The switch and headlights can operate normally and fine for a few years, and then all of a sudden, poof, no lights and evidence of a burned out switch. I have checked the wiring upstream and downstream of the switch to the headlights and it all seems fine. Anybody else have this problem with the switch ? Any good workarounds ?

Thanks.

Mike
