I've got a strange issue on my 1980 242. The left turn signal occasionally operates at double speed. Sometimes it does this immediately, sometimes after 5-10 seconds of normal speed, and sometimes it never does it.
My initial understanding is that this would occur when 1 of the 2 blinker bulbs are out. However, I've been through the indicator light assembles backwards and forwards and can find no issue. When my left blinker decides to go double speed, both bulbs continue to work.
I've checked and rechecked the bulb contacts, housing contacts, and assembly grounds with no change. I get no bulb out warning at any time. During double speed, I can momentarily disconnect one bulb and reconnect, causing the system to return to normal speed for 5-10 second before returning to double.
I've never experienced double speed on the right indicator. I would have suspected the relay otherwise, but isn't the same one used for both?
Looking for a little advice...
