I've got an '81 245 that has a clunk in the rear end that is defying analysis. Volvo mechanic says, 'All the bushings are good, including new big trailing arm bushings. Front trailing arm bushings are ok. Track rod bushings are ok. Torque rod bushings (poly) are ok. New overload IPD springs and spring mounts. New Boge shocks. Drive shaft balanced. All new u-joints. New center support bearing. Emergency brake operating correctly. When you put the emergency brake on and put the car in neutral, and push it, the wheels will rotate about 10 degrees, about 4" of road travel, before things stop. I'm really not very good on how differentials work. The 'clunk' occurs when you release the clutch in first gear, not dramatically, just a nice easy clutch release. And it goes 'Clunk'. This thing is driving me crazy. Of course anyone that owns a 33 year old car as their daily driver is certifiably crazy anyway. Help!
