Sudden rear cam plug failure 200 1992

When running an errand this morning, I pulled up to a light and noticed that horrid burnining oil smell and cloud. Found a stream of oil flowing from the back of the head on to the block and exhaust. Sounds like the rear cam plug popped out. I've ordered a new one and vcg from Eeuro, and wanted to know if it can be replaced without removing the rear cam cap? Also, in hunting around I suspected the flame trap was clogged but when I went to pull the top hose off to inspect the white plastic strainer, the top hose was loose and the strainer was clean. Hmm, I am wondering if the rest of the breather system is clogged and that is what forced the hose off the top.

So: 1.Can i replace the cam plug without removing the cam cap
2. Have folks had luck with in situ cleaning of the breather box by running engine flush through it with the oil drain plug out?

Thanks, in advance, Greg
