123 versus mallory distributor 1800

Have any of you had experiences with either the 123 or Mallory distributors in terms of reliability, especially in high temp conditions? Any alternatives? the car is a megasquirted 1800ES with a slightly modified B20. Also i would like to know if there is any way to identify the differences between a B18 & B20 carbureted head without removing it. Thanks.
