The posting re the '51 444 prompts me to write that I know of a '53 444 for sale that I plan to look at next week. The owner says he bought it in Sweden in '82 & hasn't driven it much at all since but is in VG shape. Don't think he's a car guy - bought it 'cause it has white wall tires!! Been garaged whole time he's had it but no records of mtnce or repairs. Sent me pics - it's black in color, but has no metal trim like you usually see on the fenders & belt line. My first Volvo was a '57 444 way back in the early sixties, so I know basically what to look for but right now, without seeing it, to me this '53 looks sooo plain & utilitarian; the most basic PV. Do others feel the same or is it just me? It has the B4B engine, one carb & 3 spd. tranny. Read somewhere they had a one piece driveshaft back then. If it hasn't been beaten or rusted out would this be an attractive PV? My '57 had a certain appeal, not sexy, but a real good car just the same. Thanks.
