whining m47 - quick question 200 1990

I think the clear oem fluid may be a little low due to weeping over the years from the shifter shaft. I'm getting an intermittent whine that sometimes gets pretty loud. 200k on the car. Has anyone ever done the'overfill' procedure with the oem fluid? My research on m47 fluid has returned results of people putting everything in these trans except dish soap... want to stick with what has worked for 200k...
