Hey everybody!
For abut the past 2 years the odometer & tripmeter on my 740 would be stuck at first when I would begin to drive it each morning. I found as I would drive it more, that it would "loosen up", and would eventually speed up to be racking up the mileage in its normal fashion. I found coasting downhill will help the odometer & tripmeter to speed up for a short time and break loose. The speedometer still works, so its not the sensor on the rear axle(I have a 940 with that problem). In the past it has always "loosened up" after a bit of a drive, but now it is not. I recently drove 200 miles from Nashville,TN to Knoxville,TN and it never turned normally. It only racked up 2.1 miles over the course of the trip. Now, in town it doesn't turn at all, but if I get on the interstate it will record 0.1 miles for every 7-9 miles I drive. It is a Yazaki gauge if that helps at all.
I guess my question is: Is this slow turning odometer/tripmeter due to a broken cogwheel tooth or something else? Any idea what is causing this?
I thought when a cogwheel tooth breaks, that the odometer stops completely? Does it not?
Thank you,
Ben
