Overdrive not working after transmission leak service. . . 900

Torque converter clutch solenoid was leaking so a new one was just installed along with a shift shaft seal.
(1993 940 wagon with automatic)
Up on the highway and won't shift into O/D although it worked perfectly for all of 214,000 miles before this happened.

Back to the shop and the tech bench tested the solenoid and said he checked for power into the o/d relay, all was good and he even put back the old part and said that it still wouldn't shift into o/d.

So, he basically sent me on my way with a less than perfect repair and no clear idea what to pursue next. . .

Many thanks up front for any help and or advise,
I have a large stack of printouts from this forum that have helped out immensely in the past- I did my own timing belt replacement with help from here.
