Hi all,
My 1018SR caught fire during cold start yesterday. She was having a high idle issue for past few days. The engine was slowly winding down as I saw thick dark black smog coming out of the hood. I turned off the engine immediately and popped the hood. I got out of the car and She was on fire! I called my wife for a help. I was calling 911 operator with one hand. With the other hand, I wacked a ball of fire under the belly pan with my hoody. Surprisingly, I took out that fire. But there was one more fire that I had to deal with... I was a bit hesitant to open the hood all the way, thinking that it will make worse but my wife came out with a fire extinguisher! I yanked the safety pin out and sprayed through the partially opened hood. And firefighters came after that and they gave me big thumbs up for putting out fire. One of them was a gal. She wanted to take off her suit and give it to me. That made me laugh and it was all good. Things could have been a lot worse so I considered myself very very lucky. I don't know... One thing for sure, I will try not to call 911 on the April fool's day. That was very hard. A 911 operator didn't take me serioulsy. ;-0
Now, I need plan B....
