89 744 door lever 700

The other day on my 89 744 the passenger side rear door lever quit working from the inside. It opens fine from the outside but the lever act as if its jammed or something...It will only pull back maybe a 1/2" but won't engage the mechanism.

Any ideas whats going on before I remove the door panel?
