1972 Volvo 164 E - $4500 (sunnyvale)

1972 Volvo 164 E with super low miles in great condition for it's age. This car has spent it's entire life in California. This is a 3rd owner car. The current mileage on the car is 52,000 and some change. The car has a new battery, new belts, new radiator and t-stat as well as new heater core. New tires. Recent tune up just performed including air filter, new spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor. A new valve cover gasket was just installed at time of valve adjustment. Needs some sunroof work with the crank mechanism. Car comes with the FACTORY Volvo Service manual (not a cheap Haynes book of lies) but the real deal.

I found this advert while daydreaming at night of finally owning the mightiest Volvo ever, the Volvo 164e. I've wanted one of these, yet conversion to the M410 with all the works with parts scarcity sort of scares me a wee bit. I'm not looking to buy now.

Hopefully someone else may find what appears to be a good foundation for restoration? At 4500$?

It is burgundy exterior with what looks like original burgundy leather interior. Equipped with the really inefficient BW35 auto transmission.

May be a good start for a restore.

Too good to be true?

Your comments, oh most revered and most learned Volvo 164 caretakers?

Hope that helps.

Duffy's Tavern (featuring Bing Crosby, though the radio show was the best)

The Volvo 164e. Simply the mightiest Volvo personvagnar ever made. Cast iron alloy block and matching cylinder head. Why, oh why, Volvo Cars, did you abandon the inline six until the complicated and touchy thing that is the Volvo 960/90 with that Porsche-Volvo B6304 white block engine?
