Hey all, my dearly loved 89 wagon is not starting. Thought it was a fuel relay problem at first.
Did the OnBoardDiagnostic check in socket 2 and it came out 1-1-1. So, most likely not a fuel problem.
Sorry, by the way, car is turning over and just not igniting. The lights work and everything in cabin and headlights.
Tried socket 6 OBD and that also came back 1-1-1. Next took out spark plug number 1 from number one cylinder, reattached the spark plug wire and ran it over to sit on top of the driver's side strut tower. Tried starting car and no spark was visible.
Next, I'm going to get my wife to try and start car while I carefully hold the wire from ignition coil to distributor cap near the center of distributor cap and observe for spark.
To me(not the most experienced) this seems like the ignition coil is shot or that one of the wires is not properly attached on ignition coil. Also, I checked the fuse inside engine compartment and replaced it with a brand new 30 amp fuse and still no start. I plan on checking those wires also.
