1989 wagon
A/C compressor bought brand new about 2 years ago when converted to 134. (NOT 'refurbed' or 'remanned'), works great! Just wanted to get that part out of the way.
Ok-the #12 fuse now blows occasionally only when the A/C is on.. (the #10 fuse is just the windows) That #12 fuse also is part of the windows RELAY and the A/C, so in theory could be the windows shorting out or the A/C or both. However, the fuse blows when the windows are NOT being touched/operated, so elimination says its the A/C.
I’ve replaced that white #12 fuse several times now. There is a wire behind the compressor that I was told could be “frayed” and shorting/grounding against some metal. So far can't seem to spot any frayed wire. BTW, The fuse does not blow immediately when switching on the A/C, could be 5 minutes later or a 1/2 hour later before it blows. When it blows neither the a/c compressor nor the windows can operate.
Open to thoughts. Thank you.
