hi sages- here is a peculiar question i havent seen come up before on the forum.how is thebottom of the stick shift boot supposed to connect and seal to the floor. it is just laying there and when you shift part of it comes up and allows hot air in. the black rubber boot is square and has flex bellows in it . there is no screw down plate present. is the rubber lip at the bottom of it supposed to slip under the carpet edge? if so seems it would keep coming out. are there supposed tobe clips or some kind of hold downs? boot appears to be original . american cars usually had a chrome ring or square which was held down over the boot lip and held down by 3-4 screws into the carpet and sheet metal floor. am sure it needs to be held down somehow to seal out heat and/or fumes. thanks tons oldduke
