Ignition Coils common Voltages ?

Not Volvo related but thinking of throwing 2 Volvo Coils in to see what happens.

Many of todays cars have One coil per spark plug. I wonder if I can basically do that to this Old 2 cylinder garden tractor that currently has a bad Coil with 2 High voltage leads coming out of teh center...one for each plug. Like a motorcycle coil, both plugs fire at the same time. Can I parallel up two Volvo coils with the ignition wire going to each plug? What ill affects if any will happen? Before dropping the $$ on the correct coil I would like to see if this old girl has some life in her. Can I leave the Tractor this way?
Possibly set the Plug gap the same as the Volvo gap so I don't burn up the plugs?

I guess I could just use te volvo coil and see if I can get the tractor to fire up on one cylinder at a time but would rather get both firing so I can work my way through a Fuel issue that I'm sure is in front of me. Tractor hasn't run in a Longgggg time. te hCarb is probably one big green bowl of fur.
