I wonder if anybody can help me find a short circuit in a 1994 940 NA with 104K miles. Fuse number 5 blows immediately upon replacement with key on or off. I just purchased this car. This and the cruise control were the two main issues. The cruise just needed a new actuator. But this short is giving me a challenge.
The number 5 fuse guards the clock, audio (since the radio works I think this means the amplifier), courtesy lamp, trunk lamp, glove box lamp, red door lights, visor lamps, and power antenna.
OK. Here is what I have checked so far:
Power antenna is unplugged because it is non-functioning. All the lights above were given visual inspection for obvious errors. Problem with the dome light fixture found, so it was replaced.
I found a nicked power wire to the trunk lock, now fixed. I found a wire lead to a replaced driver's visor just cut at the end, so I just unplugged it from the harness. And I found couple of sticky door switches, so they were replaced.
The fuse just keeps poppin'.
I have a cheap multi-meter and a continuity tester in my tool kit.
What I might end up doing is buying a short finder, but I was hoping that someone here might have encountered the same or a similar problem and could share their solution.

I have one strong hunch that something might be wrong inside the driver's door. The door will lock unexpectedly. I think this is mechanical, but that might be a sign that someone did something and forgot something or messed up something. I gotta get that fixed too.
This car is for my wife. I would like it to be quirk free, if you know what I mean.

Oh, one more thing that might be relative; the ambient air temperature sensor and plug is missing. The wires are capped. It reads ∓188° in the instrument cluster!
