Coil firing intermittently when key in position two and car won't start.

Got an 89 245 wagon that sat neglected for two years. It was started on and off for a few months but at some point it failed to start and there the poor lady sat. I drained all the fuel and went to start it and it was a no go. Here is some of the clues that may or may not help with this mystery. At some point I took out the instrument cluster to use in my car same year same model except mines an auto. I put that cluster back into my girls car, not sure if I was supposed to add or remove any of the dummy lights. Then I put in my fuel pump relay just to see if that was an issue. Now here is the real strange thing. After cranking the car if I leave the ignition on the number two position I hear the fuel pump relay clicking,in the front of the vehicle the coil is firing intermittently, and the air control valve also starts intermittently. All three seem to start and stop at the same time. There were mice in the car at some point but I went through pretty thoroughly and checked all the wires. Now I'm wondering if the computer is bad or maybe something isn't connected right. I have my car to rob parts from but I'm too scared to swap the computer in case something bad happens to mine. Like always any help is really appreciated right now especially since sharing a vehicle is becoming a major drag.
