Speedometer 900 1993

Thie sticker says November, 1992, but everything else says 93 turbo 940. That is old enough go for the speedometer to go on a '93 or as thought the '92. Today the speedometer went.
The alternator almost went last month, but my mechanic couldn't figure out if it was a loose wire, when pep boys tested it for the warranty. He urged me to buy a new car. But it starts as allows me to save money for a future electric hybrid automobile. Until then is there easy fix to the speedometer issue?
