There is an 83-84 245 Diesel in the local Pull and Save.

Anything useful to look for and grab?

I see there is a rust-free metal belly pan.

The front and rear stabilizer bars are the same as a 245 DL - like 21mm front / 19mm rear. Though the 245 Diesel had heavier stabilizer bars, like the rare 25mm factory front, or heavier springs front and rear to counter the higher gravity center and weight due to the VW D24.

It does include an M46 transmission.

Looks like an open differential. No metal tag on it.

Searched through the archives and found not too much in these curio 240 Diesels. No, I have no interest in the fickle VW diesel engine or some conversion to french fry oil.
