I was wondering if anyone else has had trouble measuring tranny fluid even after following directions in the owner's manual? I warm the car up, drive it for 30 minutes or less, like it recommends. Then I park, go through all the gears, and bring it back to park, and wait two minutes (it says to wait at least two minutes in the book) then I go measure it. I get a clean first reading, somewhat low, seems accurate. But then I go to re-check, and now the fluid is WAY high. It seems like the act of pulling the dipstick lowers the pressure and fluid backs up the filler tube. I don't know if the car has enough fluid or too much, but it fills up wildly after the first measurement, from barely on the measuring stick, to being all the way past it. Does anyone have this issue? Does it say in the service manual that you have to go through the gears and wait two minutes between every check? I don't exactly remember this symptom on other volvos, maybe the transmission oil pressure is too high? Hopefully I can get some feedback one way or another, my gut is telling me to just trust the first reading. Thanks everyone!
