engine shutoff problem 700 1990

while driving at times notice the engine speed fluctuates however, the car is stilly driveable. On the other hand during bumper to pumper speed the fluctuation is intence and she will stall. I turn on the ignition and she will start as though it resets itself, this happens from time to time.
