No crank symptom on an 83 240. The starter does not crank, nor does the fuel pump kick in when you turn the key in the car. Other electronics appear to work - lights, horn, radio, etc.
Does an 83 manual tranny have a neutral safety switch I should be looking into? I recall that you can start the car without your foot on the clutch, so i don't believe the car even has a neutral safety switch.
Does anyone have more advice for me? My next move is to try running a wire from the positive battery terminal down to the postive terminal on the starter solenoid. I did just have the starter off the car for some unrelated other repairs. Could someone confirm I hooked the starter back up correctly - two red wires go to the positive terminal on solenoid; there is also a yellow wire which connects to a tab connector on the solenoid.
I am wondering if it is ignition switch related, but at the same time, why won't the fuel pump kick in?
Thanks for any help in advance
