90 740 GL - engine surge when turning off the blower motor 700

So this is a new one.

My trusted buddy has started to complain when I turn off the blower motor. With the car at idle and nothing else running, if I turn on the fan without A/C-Heat, the car continues to idle with no noticeable change. However, when I turn the switch back to 0, the idle surges about 200 rpms before settling back to the 800-900 range.

Alternator maybe? The battery is a two-three year old volvo and has never given me any trouble.
