Hello all-
I just joined the forums as I picked up a 1993 240 wagon this week and have found this forum, in 2 days of ownership, to be invaluable already.
The battle wagon has 170k and typical issues, but the body is rust free and the AC works (probably the most important factor in the purchase here in DC). It was sold as barely running and the seller thought it was a bad oxygen sensor. Thanks to BB I was able to properly diagnose a bad MAF, find a replacement at the JY, and drive the car 70 miles back home. Once on the road, I found that it'd not go into 4th gear, so when I stopped to get fresh wipers (the clouds where threathening) I replaced the OD relay and had a very pleasant drive home. Again, thanks to BB, I had loaded up on relays at the JY (~12 for $5) and luckily had grabbed an OD.
I started replacing all the fluids yesterday, and Auto-RXing everything I can (this stuff is awesome, cured the sludging problem in my gf's VW). I didn't know that Volvo spec'ed chocolate milk for ATF!! We'll see how that holds up. I need to do the timing belt (last changed 100,000+ miles ago) and the suspension bushings, so I'm hoping to find a local BB lister who would be willing to lend me their TAB tool and crankshaft holder for those jobs. Anyone?
Thanks for all the hard work you all have put into documenting the car, it was a major factor in my purchase.
