A/C clutch replacement on '92 240 200 1992

Just bought a '92 240 sedan this week and it has a noisy a/c when it engages. The a/c cools just fine, but I'd like to go ahead and replace the clutch anyway.
The system has the R134a setup. I'd like to transplant my ac compressor from my wrecked '86, which also is R134a. Is this doable or do I need to find a completly new compressor. Also, if the compressor can't be transplanted, can I just remove the clutch assy from my '86 and install it onto my '92 without removing the compressor and cracking open the freon lines? Thanks.
