Highway stalling in hot weather 200 1991

My 240 DL has developed a nasty habit of suddenly stalling and refusing to re-start after about 2-3 hours of highway driving, especially on a hot afternoon. When the car cools down, it restarts, and the car is fine for another 2-3 hours. I have had any number of mechanics go over the car, to no avail. Any thoughts would eb greatly appreciated. Thanks
