Flexpipe going from exhaust Manifold to Airbox 900 1992

940 Non turbo, recently replaced the headgasket, thermostat, radiator cooling fan switch. when pulling the exhaust manifold, accidentaly broke the the flex pipe leading from the exhaust manifold to the air box. I get an intermittent check engine light, working on figuring out how to read the codes, found it in the FAQ. Does anyone know what this goes to, and what purpose it serves, as well as how much Im breaking by running around with it. Also looks like I need to inspect the flame trap on the crankcase vent, as looks like I have some pressure.
