Transmission cooler line hold-down 200

Hello,

I've read on the posts that a 240 w/ auto transmission are prone to leak at the cooler pipes where they are secured to the chassis. Mine aren't yet (200k), but the wear was obvious.

I'd like a preventative fix, but does anyone know why such a solid mount was used? If I replace the metal holder with a more flexible (perhaps silicon rubber to handle heat) will it cause other issues like cracked pipes at the transmission? Has anyone found a good solution?

Thanks,

Tom
