Hi,
93 940 wagon with Regina, no turbo
Last night ran a few errands around town, stopped at grocery store, came back out after maybe 15 minutes and radiator fan was running enough that I noticed a wave of warm air rolling out from under car as I unlocked and was getting in. Ambient sir temp couldn't have been much past 80. When I tried to start engine, it wouldn't crank. I think lights dimmed, etc., but not 100% sure. Tried several times with no luck. Eventually turned off blower for ac/heat and radiator fan stopped (but from reading other posts, I'm thinking this could be coincidence) and then car cranked and started, seemed fairly normal. Battery is maybe a year old but I haven't had it tested.
Any thoughts? Are there any conditions where fan operation could be linked to a no crank situation? I couldn't find any threads that made me think that. Later today, I'm going to try to re-create and spend some time checking relay, temp switches, etc.
DW says this happened to her once before. And of course we are leaving on a 2000 mile trip in a week. Otherwise, the car has been running perfectly.
Thanks!
Lyle
