Hey folks it has been a long time since I posted here but my 1971 164 is still going strong. I've been finding new parts for it here and there and recently was lucky enough to find a rearview mirror in great condition to replace my old crumbling one.
Problem is, I am not exactly sure how to remove the old one. It looks like it's just held on with a screw that may wedge into a clip of some sort on the roof. Do I just need to push on it or give it some 'love taps' to knock it out? Which direction do I 'love tap' it, towards the front of the car or towards the rear of the car (or the sides)?
This seems like a simple thing but I can't find info about it anywhere and I hate banging on something unless there is a method to my banging.
ALSO: I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Walrus. I was pretty new to Volvos and this board but the few exchanges I had with him over email he made me feel like one of the club. Very kind and excited and inclusive - even over the internet. Made a big impression on me and I'll always remember that.
