Dear Fellow Brickboarders,
Hope you're well. I am again asked to wrestle with a letter-based captcha, before completing a post.
I understand fully the need for website security. I understand why captchas are used. There is no need to explain these things.
I do not understand why my access should be impeded. I've never abused this site in any way.
I do not understand why letter-based captchas are used. E-Bay uses numeral-based captchas. If any site needs top-notch security, it is e-Bay.
Numeral-based captchas are easy to "unwind", because numerals have very distinct forms. Even when distorted or pushed next to another symbol, a numeral is readily read. By contrast, a lower case "r" pushed-up against an "n" looks like a lower-case "m", e.g., "rn".
I do not propose to continue to waste time with these letter-based captchas. If they continue to be used, I'll simply read posts, but not respond, if obstructed by a letter-based captcha.
I welcome your comments, which I will read carefully.
Yours faithfully,
Spook
