Over the years I've had an awful time trying to get the intake manifold to seal properly on this B20. Been through many gaskets and have had the manifold surfaced at a reputable machine shop. Seems like it will seal ok after the gasket replacement, but within 6-8 months I'm noticing a leak at the front bolt between the exhaust and intake branches. Leading to a high idle.
I'm finally going to try gasket sealer, which I generally avoid as a rule.
So I'm wondering if anyone happens to know what temperatures are normal at the manifold / head interface. This is how I'll determine which gasket sealer to purchase. I've seen 650~F flexible and 750~ rigid. I'm leaning toward using the 650 degree sealer since it's flexible, but not sure if that temperature is high enough.
Anyone know the actual temp. of both the intake and exhaust?
Actually, the intake is the only one that matters. I won't be putting sealer on the exhaust portion of the gasket.
