latest recommendations on strut inserts and shocks? 200 1991

Hi All!

I'm working on a pair of 1991 240 wagons, both have original shocks/struts and at 150K+ miles I'm starting to think about replacing them. I've used Bilstein HDs in the past, and while I like them a lot here (VA), I drove my son's Bilstein-equipped car in MN a few weeks ago and was surprised at how stiff the car felt on rough roads. Since one of these wagons may end up in MN also, I'm thinking of going with something a little "softer."

In the past I used boge turbo and sach advantage units on some other cars, but that was when both brands were still made in Germany. Also used tokico way back in the day--good, but think those are NLA.

FWIW, I like the stock Volvo units, especially when matched with bigger bars, but I'm not sure if the original-OEM units are still available. I've heard that Volvo has shipped Monroe units recently . . . .

So what's the latest wisdom on shocks/struts for our bricks? Any insights/BTDTs would be appreciated.

All the best,

Steve A-

BTW, both cars need upper strut mounts too--where's a good place to get the OEM units? Pelican? Tasca?

Thanks again!
