Surge Idle and smooth out while warm 200 1988

88 240 DL (250K) --- The symptom is a sudden very high idle surge (above 2000 RPMs I guess) while sitting at idle this morning (around 60F).

I let the engine run for about 1 min with high idle and turned it off. Then I turned it back on with the same high idle and I turned it off after additional 2 min. Finally I turned it back on again and the idle came back to normal (I noticed the engine temp started going up).

I clean IAC valve and throttle body regularly. But never replaced ECT sensor (not checking resistance yet).
