Hello everybody. This is on my 90 740 turbo.
Since it cost me an arm and a leg last time I moved, and I'm traveling much lighter this time, I want to get a hitch and tow a trailer.
Uhaul (the only place nearby) has 2 trailers - one 4x8 at 850lbs empty with 1 axle and without brakes, and one 5x10 at 1250lbs empty and with 2 axles and brakes.
I think it's obvious that, if the car can manage the weight of 1250, the trailer with brakes and 2 axles is a better choice. I'm also not sure I can fit a double/full bed in a 4x8 trailer.
Neither trailer lists their empty tongue weight. It looks like nobody makes class 3 hitches, so the max tongue weight is 350lbs for a class 2 hitch.
Can I have your opinions on this, please? I do not have overload springs nor do I think I really want them. I do have a second transmission cooler.
I've towed before, with a ford ranger automatic, and towed my car on a 4-wheel dolly behind a 24 foot truck, so I'm not completely new to towing, but I'm not a pro at it either. I figure the wiring will be pretty easy with trailer wiring splices - my only question is how do I route the wiring outside of the trunk?
Cheers
PS I've looked for hitches but never found one for a 740 that wasn't the weird factory rectangle size.
