Hello All,

First off thanks to everyone for the help especially- matt b and volvo 15!

I pulled off the VR and generator, and ran a 6 gauge wire with ring terminals from the back of the alt "Batt" post to the starter... It was recommended to add a fusible link here ( I have a 5" length of 16 gauge wire that I have yet to add in as I could not find a butt connector to fit the wildly different wire gauges).

I have two wires left that were in the harness coming from the firewall (which were bundled together as part of the original wiring to the VR)...

One thick black wire, and one thin red wire. I have attached the thick black wire to the "Batt" post along with the red pigtail wire.

The remaining thin red wire is spliced into the with pigtail wire.

From what I've read online elsewhere that is the wire that excites the alt and also ensures the amp light works. I took photo's but I can't seem to get them to post here. After doing this for the second time I don't want to risk burning me wiring.
