Had my 93 245 in semi-storage for the past 2 years. During the first year, I made an effort to drive it or at least run it at idle for 10 min each week. The past few months, it sometimes starts right away, sometimes not, so it's been pretty much sitting for at least a year.

A week ago, I was planning to drag it out of the storage area into my garage trying to get it into a daily driver shape. However, to my greatest pleasant surprise, she started right at the first turn of the key! I drove it to the driveway, gave her a nice sponge both and she is pretty again. Thinking that the leftover gas (only 1/8 full maybe) might not be good for her, I took a chance driving her to the gas station 5 miles away. She ran perfectly. That made me soo happy because I was prepared to spend hours to get her running. Again, parked her right in front of the garage and gave the engine bay a good rub down cleaning (dusty from the storage).

The next morning when I tried to start her again, no luck. engines turns. If I crank her long enough (like over 5 seconds) I can hear her firing on and off and eventually firing continuously while the starter motor is turning (hearing some backfire pops). As soon as I stopped turning the key, it dies. All brand new plugs, rotor and cap. Checked high tension system with an Autozone in-line ignition tester (flashes if there is high tension current going to the plugs. The tester flashes real good as I crank it. That means that my high tension system as well as the ignition module and CPS are good, right? Tried to spray carb cleaner into the idle controller tube, still no start.
There is humming from the fuel pump when the key way first put in. Just to be sure, I used a known working FPR from my perfectly running 745, again, no difference.

It’s been over 2 years since I last worked on a 240. So, I need some pointers from you guys. Also, I forgot if there is a good write up for trouble shooting non starters. If you know that there is one, please give me the link. Thx in advance. Erwin
