240 horn swap gone bad 200 1983

The horn on my 1983 243 GLT was seriously wimpy sounding so I replaced them with a pair of horns of a late 90's v70 wagon. The result is very disappointing. The sound quality is very poor. Is there more I need to do other than swap in the horns.
