Blower motor/climate control alternatives? 200 1978

Surprise, surprise: my blower motor is long dead. While I'm intrigued at the idea (chainsaw method included) I'd like to avoid spelunking to the depths of my brick to replace the blower motor, or, for that matter, dropping half a month's pay at a local garage. (Don't get me wrong, I'd love to help those cats out, but I have to eat.)

It doesn't often freeze around these parts (coastal Pacific Northwest), but it gets plenty wet out, so my windshield/back window get nice and foggy. I'll pour hot water on the outside to get going in the mornings, and don't mind driving around with the windows open (to keep my breath from fogging things up), but it makes running errands pretty tedious.

I can't imagine a 12V plug-in heater being worth a damn, and Rain-X is exterior only. As hilarious as it sounds to blow dry the inside of my car every morning, I can only assume somebody out there must have an idea, insight, or better imagination.
