all the classic signs what with dash dimming,using high beams making car stumble, low headlights,gauges dropping etc. though no flickering/steady dash warning lights like happened in my last alt failure 12 years ago.

odd thing is that all this ends when i'm at stop. you can see the dash get brighter, lights brighten , horn works etc. once on go and especially at 60 mph the dimming etc happens again.

below 0 last night so didn't look at it then. battery charged overnight.didn't seem to take long to charge it on charger auto setting

before i go to have it load tested, what can i expect the verdict to be?

ps. the brushes changed out in 2010 and battery new month ago. alternator last changed in 2002 (about 180k ago).

89 245, 340k auto.
