Hello all. We had some cold weather here last week and I accidentally activated the windshield wipers before I had scraped off the ice. The passenger side wiper blade just went over the ice and went back in place after I switched them off but the drivers side one didn't move at all.
Today when trying to remove some rain from the windshield the drivers side one went up about halfway, stopped, and then caught on the other one as it was making it's way back up again. I shut down the car and removed the wiper blade from the drivers side one until I could get a new blade. Well that had no effect and now it seems the mechanism (wiper arm unit?) will turn freely around 360 degrees as if the mechanism is stripped. The other side doesn't do that so that is how I know that the drivers side is shot, or at the very least loose in some way.
Is there an easy fix to this or would a Volvo mechanic be better suited to fix this or is this something that a person who is "less than a expert" could do a quick fix on? There are many Volvo shops in the area so that is not an issue. Any help is appreciated!
